Clinics Extend Hours to Ease Winter Pressure

Local clinics will stay open later this winter in a bid to ease pressure on hospitals, with walk-in appointments offered on weekday evenings and at weekends.

Health officials said the extra hours should reduce long waits for minor illnesses and injuries. Staff will be supported by temporary doctors and nurses recruited for the season.

Patients are asked to use the clinics for non-urgent problems and to call emergency services only in serious cases.
