Solar Roofs Spread Across Schools and Libraries

Schools, libraries and community centres across the region are installing solar panels under a public programme designed to cut energy bills and emissions.

Officials said the first buildings are already saving money and that the savings will be reinvested in local services. Students are using the panels to learn about energy in the classroom.

The programme aims to reach two hundred buildings within three years.

  1. This matches what we saw after auditing our own homepage — most of the weight wasn’t the framework, it was four analytics tags nobody remembered adding.

  2. Good breakdown. I’d add that the org chart matters here too — if five teams can each ship a script tag independently, performance decays by default over time.

  3. Curious how you got buy-in to actually remove things instead of just adding a budget dashboard nobody looks at. That is usually the harder problem.

  4. Disagree with the conclusion, but I appreciate that both sides were quoted.
