That is a missed opportunity for the people who live with those decisions every day.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When fewer voters take part, decisions are made by smaller groups and the results are harder to challenge. Small changes in turnout can decide who runs a neighbourhood for years.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Checking who is standing, reading local manifestos and turning up on the day takes less time than most people expect.
